System Migration
RESULTS: Successfully migrated Oracle On Demand (OOD) eBusiness Suite and 16 associated financial, engineering, manufacturing, and sales support systems to co-lo data center facilities in Sacramento and Denver (disaster recovery sites). Engaged with multiple internal and 3rd party teams, resulting in an efficiently executed migration and seamless integration across all core systems.
CHALLENGE: The extremely complex project required a precise interface, data flow, and dependency mapping across all core systems, presenting several challenges. This included coordinating internal and external teams, strict adherence to the $10 million budget, and a one-year timeline. Handling the intricacy of migrating 16 diverse systems and maintaining the existing systems' quality and functionality made this a demanding task requiring expert planning and execution.
ACTIONS: Established a comprehensive project plan, outlining the migration of Oracle On Demand (OOD) eBusiness Suite and related systems. Assembled a strong team comprising over 20 FTE team members, including two subproject managers, and coordinated with IBM, Famsoft, Sycomp, et al. Created and monitored detailed interface, data flow, and dependency maps to ensure alignment across all core systems. Implemented regular reviews and feedback loops with all stakeholders, adjusting strategies to align with project objectives. The project was delivered on time and within budget through rigorous management, clear communication, and adaptive problem-solving, achieving all desired outcomes.
